WES Updates

Hello WES Families!


Here we are two weeks away from the start of school!  I hope all of you had a great Summer with family and friends!


Back to School Bash

The district is having a Back to School Bash on August 16th from 4pm - 7pm on the southside of WES. This is in conjunction with the WES Open House. There will be activities for students and food for families.

 

Open House

Wednesday, August 16th from 4:30 - 6:00pm.  You can bring your child’s school supplies and other items at this time.  Come meet the staff and show your child around WES.  Parking at the high school west parking lot is available as well.


First Day of School

The students first day of school is August 22nd.  Students can arrive between 7:45 and 8:25.  At 8:25 students will be brought in from the playground and brought to their homeroom.  Students are dismissed at 3:05.  Make sure your child knows what their arrangement is after school.  Every year we have students miss the bus or end up at the wrong location and we want to keep this to a minimum. 


Free and Reduced Forms

School lunches are no longer free.  Please fill out the free and reduced forms available in the office and the class rooms. A large portion of our Title I funding is generated through Free and Reduced dollars.  This money has a valuable impact on your child’s education.

 

Class Placement

Teachers will be reaching out to families this week and early next week regarding student placement. Please wait until Tuesday, August 15th to call the office to check on student placement. At the WES Open House we will have staff with class lists as well.

First Day of School

 

With the first day of school just around the corner, I wanted to update you on a few items to help with the big day.

 

  • Students in 1st - 5th grade that ride the bus, walk, or are brought to school can/will arrive anytime between 7:45am and 8:25am.  
  • Students will walk to the playground using the sidewalk on the south side of the building.  Students can stay on the playground or go inside to eat breakfast. Please have your child arrive by 8:15 if your child needs to eat breakfast.
  • At 8:25 all students will be brought inside by their teachers.
  • Students are dismissed at 3:05.  Please make sure your child understands how they are getting home (Bus, Walk, Pick-up
