Learning Center
The learning center is designed for 1st through 5th-grade students at Wahpeton Elementary School. It offers a welcoming, calm space where students can take a break, reset, or focus on completing work. The Learning Center is equipped with resources that support students' emotional and academic needs. Soft seating, like bean bags or floor cushions, provide comfortable spots where students can relax and step away from a busy classroom environment. Activities such as fidget toys, exercise equipment, breathing exercises, or mindfulness coloring sheets are available to help students refocus and manage their emotions, while quiet lighting and soft colors create a peaceful atmosphere that promotes relaxation.
Additionally, the learning center offers a dedicated workspace where students can finish assignments in a focused setting. Equipped with school supplies and organizational tools, it allows students to concentrate on their work away from potential classroom distractions. Mrs. Rossow is the support staff in the Learning Center. Mrs. Rossow along with Mr. Bruna and others can use this space to check in with students individually, offering support and guidance as they complete tasks. Overall, the learning center serves as a multi-functional environment that values both the emotional well-being and academic success of students. By providing a space for both calming down and focusing, it helps students return to class ready to participate and engage more effectively.
