This honor choir is for students in grades 7-9 and is by audition.

Students work with Mrs. Stoppleworth to make two recordings.
1. My Country Tis of Thee
2. A solo (as approved by Mrs. Stoppleworth)

Once completed, audition recordings are submitted and students are selected by a panel of judges. Any student in the 7-9th grade in the state of ND can audition as long as their teacher is an NDACDA member like Mrs. Stoppleworth.

This year's festival has been replaced by a virtual conference taking place on Friday, February 5th. Auditions are due by mid-October. All expenses are covered by WPS including audition fees, registration fees, transportation and hotel. Students must only pay for their own meals.

**North Dakota State College of Science Middle School Honor Choir Festival 2021 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic

This honor choir is presented by Bryan Poyzer (choir director, NDSCS) with the intent to empower my future singers and expose them to great literature written for young women’s and men’s choirs.

Students are selected by Mrs. Stoppleworth based on singing ability, leadership characteristics and dedication to the choral craft. Students interested in this honor choir can show dedication by auditioning for other honor choirs, participating in small groups/solos at the JH music festival, and auditioning for solos in choir class.

* Fee is $15 per/student and this includes the festival, the dinner meal, and a medal.

A concert is held at 7pm in the Stern Auditorium on NDSCS campus. It is free and open to the public.

This festival has been cancelled for the 2020-21 school year. It is typically sponsored by the North Dakota American Choir Director’s Association (NDACDA) and is open to 5th and 6th grade students. Mrs. Stoppleworth selects 6th grade students based on a short vocal evaluation completed by all students in music class. Students leadership characteristics are also strongly considered. There are no formal auditions or applications.

All fees for this festival are covered by WPS. Students are always expected to bring 1 pair of black pants (or skirt,) black concert shoes (closed toes and no heels,) and a water bottle. Students may wear comfortable shoes and clothing during the day, but they will change into their festival t-shirt, black pants and shoes for the concert.
