2026 School Board Candidates
Candidates interested in being on the ballot please file your intent to run.
On June 2, 2026, Wahpeton School District voters will elect 3 members to the Wahpeton Public Schools Board of Education. Those seats will serve a three-year term, until July 2029.
The following offices are up for election:
2 CITY OF WAHPETON
1 RURAL SOUTH (OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS, SOUTH OF HWY 13)
Candidates must be an “eligible elector” in the school district at the time of the election.
An eligible elector is:
- Citizen of the United States
- Eighteen years of age or older
- A resident of North Dakota
- Resided in the precinct at least thirty (30) days preceding the election
Please complete both "Candidate's Statement of Intent" & "Statement of Interests" forms.
These forms must be filed with the Business Manager by Monday, March 30, 2026 at 4:00 PM on the sixty-fourth (64th) day before the election.
Residents of the Wahpeton Public School District can stop by the District Office, located at 1021 11th St N, to absentee vote for the 2026 School Board Election between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM until June 1, 2026.
Valid Wahpeton Public School District residents may also have an absentee ballot mailed to them by filling out an Absentee Ballot Application SFN 51468 (link below). Return completed Absentee Ballot Application by mail to Wahpeton Public School District, Attn: Alayna Halstensgaard, PO Box 10, Wahpeton, ND 58074 or email it to a[email protected]. North Dakota law requires voters submit a completed application in a timely manner as to allow the applicant to receive, complete and mail the absent voter’s ballot before the day of the election.
The 2026 School Board Election will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Wahpeton High School (please use the west entrance). The polls will open at 11:00 AM and close at 7:00 PM. The purpose of the 2026 School Board Election is to fill three expired terms (2 City of Wahpeton, and 1 Rural South).
